My dad was a linguistics professor who built expert systems in the 80s. I grew up hearing about the philosophy of what intelligence was at the time, and how it will evolve. At the dinner table, we talked about why systems failed, and why rules couldn't adapt. Fast forward, I now build the systems he envisioned: transformers that learn, agents that reason, AI that generalizes.
